Susan grew up in Cork, Ireland before graduating with a First-Class Honours Degree from Edinburgh College of Art. She has exhibited her sculptures in galleries throughout the UK, Europe & in the USA. Susan's fascination in childhood with collecting & categorising collected animals has evolved into making ceramic animal sculptures from her imagination. These sculptures are made on a wire framework onto which layers of printed & patterned  porcelain paper clay are applied to form a skin. The chance natural twists & kinks of this wire frame together with the shrinkage of the clay around it during firing dictate the posture of the finished animal giving each animal a certain awkward vulnerability.
