Billy gave a very entertaining visual presentation, peppered with his
Irish humour, tracing the development of his work, which has been
continually influenced by the rugged landscape and architecture of his
Irish homeland. While demonstrating
the making of a vessel, which was part thrown then hand built, Billy
explained his use of different types of clay which he roughly layers to
give his characteristic textures. Billy would then use a number of
glazes each fired to a different temperature
to achieve his vivid yet natural colours.
